THE CITY OF ANACONDA, MONTANA. used in the different processes of concentrating and smelt-ing the ore. At the initial and larger plant the water wheels consistof 3 Leffel horizontal shaft, double discharge, turbinewheels of 300-horse-energy each and every, which are shown in theaccompanying engraving. There are also three Pelton wheels of 125 horse-energy each and every, which are kept as reserve. The powerhouse is a substantial structure of stone and brick, 60x130feet. The water wheels are in the basement and are beltedof a six-inch line shaft on the floor above, which in turntransmits its power by link belts to the dynamos. The arc and incandescent machines are at one end, andalso the Thomson-Houston railway generators operatingthe street railway. The refinery energy is supplied byeight Edison 100 K. W. 500-volt generators, divided into two systems of four machines. Every method^has its fourdynamos connected in series and runs at two,000 voltspressure. The line consists of two constructive and two neg-ative wire
